TLC TurfMaster Aeration Process
The soil in your lawn naturally becomes more compact over time. Heavy foot traffic, heat stress, rainfall, and even mowing tend to compact grass, preventing the roots from being able to soak up the nutrients they need. When this happens, it becomes far more difficult for fertilizer and water to penetrate the soil and get deep enough to reach the roots. This means that regardless of how much water, fertilizer, and weed control you provide it, your grass is still only able to absorb a fraction of what it is being given.
To remedy this, TLC TurfMaster recommends aeration of your grass at least once per year. The holes will oxygenate the soil, and when the dirt merges back together in the spaces left, it will be loosened. This loosening of the ground will enable the fertilizer and water to penetrate through, allowing the roots to absorb all of the essential nutrients.

Overseeding for Your Fescue Lawn
While warm-season grasses such as bermuda and zoysia are the most common types of turf found in Arkansas or Tennessee, fescue, a cooler season grass is becoming more popular due to its high shade tolerance. It is the most heat and drought-resistant of the cool-season grasses and will stay green through spring and fall when warm-season grasses are dormant. It is also a bunch-type grass that doesn’t fill in bare areas. Therefore periodic overseeding is needed to keep it thick and dense. TLC TurfMaster Lawn Care will overseed your grass immediately after aeration. This is best performed in the fall, as temperatures moderate, and fescue grass begins to grow more actively. The new seed will sprout, and your lawn will be left thicker going into winter and in better condition for the spring.
