Here’s Why You Should Get Commercial Lawn Services This Summer

You only get one chance to make a good first impression. If your business or residential complex has shoddy landscaping, believe it or not, this could influence a customer’s choice to do business with you. Thankfully, you can remedy this problem with a commercial landscaping program. See what the benefits are to hiring a professional lawn fertilization company this summer.

Reasons To Hire Commercial Lawn Services

Mulching

Mulch has two-fold benefits: it elevates the appearance of your property. Mulch includes materials like straw, wood chips, pebbles, recycled tires, or shredded bark. Surrounding your trees or other ornamental plants with mulch makes your landscaping look sharp and increases the curb appeal of your commercial property. In fact, research shows that real estate prices can be influenced as much as 14% just from the landscaping. The other key thing mulch does is lock in moisture. Organic mulch is the better option for this, and it will eventually add nutrients back to the soil as it breaks down over time. Mulch can also help suppress the growth of weeds, so TLC Turfmasters technicians won’t have to apply as much weed control.

Weed Control

Once weeds establish themselves in lawns or flower beds, they can be challenging to eradicate. Part of our commercial program is to make sure these pesky plants stay away. Our weed control services are “selective,” meaning they only target weeds – never your trees, shrubs, flowers, or turfgrass! We also apply pre-emergent weed control each spring and fall to target weeds before they germinate. Lawns cluttered up with weeds look unkempt. You want your business to look crisp and well-cared for.

Fertilization

A lot more goes into fertilizing a lawn than you may realize. There are both macro and micronutrients to consider. Macronutrients are nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. Micronutrients include elements like iron, magnesium, manganese, copper, and sulfur. Each of them plays a key role in chlorophyll production, root development, and how hardy your grass or flowers will be against things like drought, stress, and excess heat.

At TLC Turfmaster, our program is seven steps and timed to deliver exactly what your plants need throughout the year.

Early spring – We apply pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control, as well as liquid aeration to break up topsoil for more robust roots

Late Spring – Continued weed control with the first fertilizer application of the year to stimulate growth, increase the green color, and decrease stress caused by summer heat.

Early Summer – More post-emergent weed control to battle persistent weeds like crabgrass, plus second fertilization to bolster lawn’s health against the summer temperatures. Lastly, a liquid dethatch to break up existing thatch in the lawn.

Mid-Summer – Repeat process from early summer.

Late Summer – Third round of fertilizer to help stimulate the development of roots, which is critical for their long-term health and natural resistance against weeds, plus soil amendment to help prepare your lawn for autumn.

Fall – Weed control to protect your lawn from upcoming winter pests, as well as clear out any remaining summer weeds. At this time, we also apply liquid aeration to help break up and loosen topsoil.

Lime Application – Applied to neutralize the soil’s pH levels. This will help make nutrients more accessible.

Mowing

It may seem like a mundane thing, but mowing the lawn is one of the easiest ways to make or break your lawn. When you mow the grass too short, you can actually encourage weeds because they’ll have access to more direct sunlight. You can also stress out the grass. Conversely, if you let the grass get too long, you can invite lawn diseases and other pests. It also makes it difficult to cut the grass, as the long grass blades can clump the mower blades. Even something as simple as taking the same path over and over can impact the lawn. If you don’t switch up your mowing pattern, you could create divets or ruts in the grass. Why not leave it to the experts? We’ll get it done correctly and quickly!
